Beastie Boys founding member Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA, died Friday (May 4) at age 47 after a nearly three-year battle with cancer. The MC's death quickly spread across the Internet, and the tributes that flooded Twitter showed the impact his music had on artists from all areas of entertainment.

"Crushed to hear the news of Adam Yauch's passing," Justin Timberlake tweeted. "A true pioneer of art. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.#RIPMCA"

He's not the only member of the pop world feeling the loss: The Ryan Tedder-led band, OneRepublic, also expressed their shock over his death. "R.I.P Adam MCA," the band wrote. "Beastie Boys remain untouchable."

DJ Steve Aoki expressed his sadness, writing, "Ahhh man... rest in peace to the one and only MCA. wow. terrible news."

"Rip MCA," the Backstreet Boys chimed in. "Our thoughts are with you and your family. #BeastieBoys4Life."

Given how influential the band had been across all genres and their own roots in rock, the reaction has been overwhelming in the rock-and-roll community. "Rest In Peace Adam Yauch /MCA," Blink-182's Travis Barker tweeted. "4ever somebody i looked up to & had the pleasure of meeting. Damn this bums me out, we lost one of the best."

Fellow drummer Chad Smith, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, added, "Wow, lost another brother..sail on MCA."

Jimmy Eat World tweeted, "We're very saddened by the passing of Adam Yauch. RIP MCA. You'll be missed." They also tweeted a link to the Beasties' track "Gratitude," from their 1992 album, Check Your Head.

"We're sad to learn about the death of MCA," Linkin Park tweeted. "Our condolences to the Beastie Boys and Adam's family."

On top of his music, Yauch had also become a film director and producer over the past decade, so Hollywood felt the loss as well. "RIP Adam Yauch," director Kevin Smith tweeted. "You made my teenage years more fun and your art made it easier for me to do what I do. For a Beastie, you sure were a beaut."

"RIP Adam Yauch (MCA of the Beastie Boys). He was a super-genius, a visionary and, most importantly, a really good person," Rainn Wilson noted.

"Rest in peace Adam Yauch," Marlon Wayans added. "Beastie Boys were always the 'coolest whiteboys' when I was growing up. They erased color lines the opposite way."

Share your condolences for MCA's family, friends and fans in the comments below.

The 9 Weirdest Places in Reddit (Updated) [WTFriday]

Reddit is the best possible argument anyone can muster against direct democracy: a perfect cross section of the internet and all horrible people on it. It's bloated with racism, depravity, more racism, but moreover with an incredibly diverse array of strange and absurd subcultures. More »

@MrsKutcher Is No More: Demi Moore Is @JustDemi

Actress changes her Twitter handle after split from Ashton Kutcher.

It's official: Demi Moore is no longer "Mrs. Kutcher" and is now "just Demi."

Almost six months after her , Moore has changed her Twitter handle to one that doesn't tout her husband's last name. Her user name is now @justdemi, and her old Twitter account has successfully been transported over to its new home, followers and all.

"So hard finding a name that was fun somewhat playful and available. So for now it will be @justdemi It could grow on me!" she tweeted following the change.

Kutcher and Moore announced their divorce in November following his and a subsequent on Twitter. Back in December, Moore responded to her followers who continually asked her when she was going to change her Twitter name from @mrskutcher.

"Changing my twitter name isn't a top priority right now. sorry it bothers so many of u," she tweeted. "Should I not tweet until I do? does it really matter?"

It seems like Moore has spent the past few months focusing on her recovery following her back in January and subsequent stint in rehab. After taking a break for three months, Moore returned to Twitter on April 15 and almost immediately started looking for a new handle.

A new user has already snapped up the name @mrskutcher, but don't be fooled. Though they have the same user picture Moore had and still go by the name "Demi Moore," it's a different person. Maybe that user name can stay around until Kutcher finds himself a new bride, though we would suggest she pick a different Twitter handle since that one might be a bit ill-fated.

Kanye West Debuts Dark 'Lost In The World' Video

West unexpectedly rolls out a late visual for his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy track.

Kanye West works in mysterious ways. Just when it seemed like all of his creative energy would be funneled into his upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation, the mad genius jumps back two albums, finally dropping a video for "Lost in the World," from his critically acclaimed 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Simply calling the new visuals from Kanye a "music video" might be a disservice, though, so let's say that 'Ye teamed up with fashion filmmaker Ruth Hogben to create a new mini movie. The black-and-white clip opens with a warning that "strobe effects are used in this video" — West clearly learned a lesson from the backlash that accompanied his "All of the Lights" video — before "Lost" flashes across the screen in a few different languages and, finally, the song's title is announced.

The dark clip plays up the desperation of the Bon-Iver-featured "Lost in the World," with a group of models dressed in sheer fabric (it wouldn't be a Kanye piece without some form of exposed skin) expressing their pain through dance.

West himself appears on a mirrored platform, which reflects the dark sky above, and as the video progresses, the looming structures overhead begin to part, revealing an ominous city skyline. During the drum-heavy breakdown at the end of the track, the models convulse into full synchronized dance, ending with one lingering shot of the pained expressions on their faces.

Kanye's aesthetic has continued to evolve over his last few projects, and this new clip seems to be an extension of the techniques he employed in the visuals for Watch the Throne's "N---as in Paris." The clip premiered on Friday (May 4) with no context, as Kanye's most recent releases are the G.O.O.D. Music singles "Mercy" and the "I Don't Like" remix, along with the solo track "Way Too Cold."

What do you think of Kanye's "Lost in the World" video? Tell us in the comments!

Stats: Facebook Made $9.51 in Ad Revenue Per User Last Year In The U.S. and Canada

facebook-world-mapEven though Facebook's IPO roadshow video was a mostly touchy-feely affair with videos of friends have coffee and babies blowing out candles, there were some new stats tucked away in it. For the first time, the company gave a look at how it monetizes on a per user basis in different parts the world. There was one chart of most interest. It shows that Facebook made about $9.51 in advertising revenue per user in the U.S. and Canada. Europe was about half that much with $4.86 in ad revenue per user. Asia and the rest of the world follow that at $1.79 and $1.42 per user. What this shows is the revenue trajectory that other more economically developed markets like Western Europe and Japan could get to if Facebook successfully grows there or convinces more regional brand advertisers to come on board.
