In health matters, we have told you before about the benefits of drinking that cup of Joe before working out. Now, a study shows another positive result from that combination. A cup of coffee and a morning workout may significantly reduce your skin cancer risk.
Rutgers University Researchers evaluated the effects of caffeine and exercise on mice at a high risk for developing skin cancer. The team exposed the mice to Ultra Violet B Light, which is known to cause skin cancer.
They then gave one group of mice caffeine in water. One group an exercise wheel. A third group got both. And a fourth got neither.
Results showed mice who had caffeine and exercised had 62% fewer non-melanoma skin cancers; compared to the mice who didn?t get any caffeine or exercise.
Study authors believe the combined effects of exercise and caffeine may be able to ward off skin cancer. They urge further research to confirm their findings.
They are scheduled to present their findings at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting in Chicago.
